Hannah's been taking photos again. At last, the scaffolding's down and everything looks sooo different.
It's been bitterly cold here today. No snow or sleet but absolute cold. I am so glad I'm not a scaffolder. Meanwhile, inside the barn, work hasn't stopped. The plastering in A Shirl's goes on; it's really, really smooth. Excellent plastering. Maybe we'll get plastered soon.
We've thinned out the tomato plants. I can't believe how quickly they grow. This time last week they were but little seeds in packets, living in our fridge. Here's a helpful hint - keep your seeds in the fridge for maximum potential. True.
Hannah's been with me today whilst Fiona's been down South and Dad's been out all day. She's been chauffeur, chief cook and bottlewasher, as well as, of course, official photographer. Before the Babitt left for HQ she groomed Delius so we had a magic moustache moment, captured for eternity. Here we have Birmog moustache design number 3. It's the van Dyke look....

I'm just about to post this on the Northwich Guardian's WPC webpage, maybe your father would find it interesting. "Our" flights of fancy refers to my co-poster there (who lives in Australia).
What do you want from a parish council? The nature of the work requires a rather plodding dedication -- an affection for the people of your parish, not [italic]our[/italic] way-out flights of fancy, not -- for most of the time -- the sharp, legal, opportunistic mind. Our council has one of those, but the developers have far more. And they keep coming back for another bite at the cake.
The consequence has been this pig's breakfast of intentions and mis-placed building. No-one's long-term objective has been fulfilled, or even begun. Those who gain, and pocket, are those who're prepared to move around, not being embedded anywhere -- except with their bank. And even that might be offshore.
If Gordon wants to build a better Britain, is continuing to allow business to call the shots the way to go? The railways, the bus wars in Manchester and the private equity doubts: none of these are going easily.
Being a ruler or a lawyer might take years and allow stunning effects, great shock and great awe; but that's not government.
