P-d off with moving

It has been decidedly stressful of late, hence the lack of posts here - bed and barn in strict rotation have been the order of the day. At last the great move has begun, indeed has begun and ended for Aunty Shirl who is now firmly ensconced in Number 1 Barn aka Poppies. She may well be surrounded by boxes, bags and crates but she is in and very happily in too. She, and we, will be eternally grateful to Penny and Val for their unfailing perseverance.

For us however, as you might guess, it's not that simple. The kitchen and dining room have been effectively sealed off until they completely dry out following The Great Floods - note the plural as it transpires that Flood number 1 and Flood number 2 were unconnected, as was prospective Flood number 3 which we managed to stem before it eddied
and swirled out of control. I'm beginning to suspect one should never trust trades that begin with the letter P, ie Plumbers and Painters. 2 missing washers (washing machine and downstairs loo tap) and 1 randomly connected piece of pipework is not efficient plumbing in my book. And we're still awaiting one shower. Similarly, Painters that arrive at 8.30, take a break at 9.30, lunch at anything from 11.30 onwards then leave at 3.30 aren't quite working to optimum capability and therefore either slapdash their way through or just say it's taking longer than they thought. Not happy with P-trades.
Our en-suite is complete.... apart from a carpet and a shower head.....but we're getting there! However, on the bright side, carpets are fitted throughout apart from the dining room which is out of bounds, our en-suite and the red room for which delivery is still awaited. We moved a lot of the heavy stuff this weekend - I say we but use the term loosely. I, of course, did not do any of the moving and lifting but washed, disinfected and de-moused our furniture as it came out of Colin. Virtually none of it is in situ yet but at least, with our hugest thanks to Hannah, Scott, Sharon and Del, it has made its way into the barn. Thursday should be the final day for the painters with the dining room and kitchen hopefully dry enough for completion, then the carpet will be fitted on Friday which means we can spend the weekend getting properly sorted.
Have had a pretty poor brain week, probably not so surprising given all that's been going on, so have spent time in my happy place where, aside from general upkeep, I've sown more spring onions and some dwarf beans that bear an uncanny resemblance to tic-tacs. Phoebe very often accompanies me in the veg garden, surveying the scene from her special place....

And, mass excitement, the peas are beginning to pod! Hurrah, not all Ps are inefficient.....
