The trials and tribulations of the renovations of barn and brain in rural Cheshire.....

I know I wanted a water feature but.....

.....I was thinking more of outside than inside. Bit of a wet start to this morning, the day of the village fair, in more ways than one. Boosh Barn flooded! With about 2 inches of water throughout the ground floor. We spent several backbreaking hours scooping up water, bucketing it and then slinging it outside. We've now had pestilence (mice in Colin) and floods; suffice to say we've strictly banned smoking in the barn.

A quick bite to eat then off to the Village Fair where plants that I had grown from seed were included for sale on Dad's stall, all proceeds to the church - a very proud achievement. Four varieties of tomatoes, courgettes, sweetcorn and runner beans planted by moi were amongst the stock on offer and fairly flew off the counter despite the heavy rain showers.

Yet more rural satisfaction when we got home - the carrots, beetroot, spinach and spring onions have all started to pop up. Never thought I'd see the day when the emergence of green things would cause such mass excitement - even the Babitt's impressed.

We were going to do a car boot tomorrow but I'm just too, too tired, what with the unexpected excitement this morning. It'll be a quiet day with lots of sleeeeeeepzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.
